We're an entrepreneurial publisher built on the belief that books change lives.
From our humble beginnings in a spare bedroom in 1987, with just one book and a single employee — our founder, Publisher and CEO Dominique Raccah — we’ve stayed true to our passion for stories and our dedication to helping authors reach readers. We’re an innovative, mission-driven book publisher that champions diverse voices in publishing.
We marry our mission with data—staying agile, launching new imprints, and investing in authors’ careers—to drive hundreds of national and international bestsellers. As the only book publisher recognized on Newsweek's list of Most Loved Workplaces (#2, 2024) and as a Fast Company innovation leader (2024 Most Innovative Companies; 2023 Best Workplaces for Innovators), we’ve created books that transcend categories and defy odds. As of 2025 we hold one of the lowest turnover rates in the publishing industry, a testament to our people-first leadership culture.
At Sourcebooks everyone has a seat at the table. We ask big questions and create opportunities, and we have a lot of fun doing it.
That same spirit guides us as we embrace new technologies and formats. As new tools like AI require the book industry to take bold ethical stances, we’ve chosen a path of stewardship. We will ask better questions, not just about what’s possible, but about what’s right. We will use ethics, transparency, and equity to guide us forward with full respect for authors’ and illustrators’ intellectual property and creative contributions. We’re Sourcebooks: we will continue to ask “what if?” and “why not?”, and challenge ourselves to be more inclusive, innovative, and values-driven than ever before.
We’re proud to be your hometown publisher based in the Midwest, serving authors and readers worldwide.
